Islamabad – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Inter-Governmental Commercial Transactions (CCoIGCT) in Islamabad today, focusing on the government’s ongoing privatization and economic reform agenda.
The meeting reviewed progress on government-to-government (G2G) commercial arrangements aimed at streamlining the transfer of state assets, improving operational efficiency, and encouraging private sector participation in Pakistan’s economy.
On a summary presented by the Privatisation Division, the Committee approved the reference price for the First Women Bank Limited (FWBL) — a significant development paving the way for UAE investment in Pakistan’s banking sector. This step marks a key milestone in the government’s broader efforts to strengthen foreign investor confidence and promote strategic partnerships in critical financial institutions.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for Finance, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Tariq Bajwa, SAPM on Railways, as well as the Secretaries of Cabinet and Privatisation, along with other senior officials from relevant ministries.
Chairing the session, Senator Ishaq Dar stressed the need for transparency, efficiency, and timely execution of privatization initiatives, emphasizing that successful implementation would be crucial in accelerating economic growth and enhancing investor trust in Pakistan’s reform program.
