PPP Will Win All 10 Poonch Seats in Next Elections: Says Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan

Islamabad: Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has categorically declared that in the upcoming general elections, all ten seats of Poonch will be won by the Pakistan Peoples Party, and that the PPP government in Azad Kashmir will be formed with a stronger and unprecedented public mandate.He said that the removal of Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq’s government was not an act of personal revenge, but an unavoidable decision taken to safeguard politics, the state, and ideology in Azad Kashmir. Through this step, he added, the political process was brought back onto the right track.Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan stated that the Pakistan Peoples Party has ended ideological confusion in Azad Kashmir and that no further compromise on the ideology of accession to Pakistan was possible. He made it clear that neither they nor their elders were traitors, saying that their struggle is rooted in sacrifices and that they would never step back from the struggle for freedom and dignity.The meeting was presided over by former President and Prime Minister Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, who said in his address that the coming era belongs to the Pakistan Peoples Party and that the current government would not pursue any policy of political victimization.Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, in his speech, said that during the Anwar-ul-Haq era, the political leadership of Azad Kashmir was systematically defamed, baseless allegations were leveled, and attempts were made to brand them as traitors—something that could no longer be tolerated. He added that national security institutions have confidence in and respect for the Pakistan Peoples Party and its leadership, which made it necessary to send the Anwar-ul-Haq government home and restore politics and the state to their original course.He reiterated that the coming period will exclusively belong to the Pakistan Peoples Party and that the party will move forward in Azad Kashmir with full public confidence.Highlighting the party’s electoral experience and political insight, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan said that PPP has a proven track record of winning elections and that in the previous polls, the party achieved victories in several constituencies after a long gap. He expressed confidence that in the next elections, PPP will secure all ten seats of Poonch.He assured the people of Poonch, including Sudhnoti, that there would be no compromise on their rights, redressal of deprivations, or development decisions. He said that Poonch is a land of brave people, martyrs, and veterans, which has endured long periods in opposition, but now an era of development, authority, and political stability has begun.Referring to the recent visit of Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore to Poonch, he said that politics in the region has once again been revived, and the approval of dozens of development projects is proof that the Pakistan Peoples Party believes in practical politics.Recalling the achievements of his tenure, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan said that Panjari in Bhimber and Chakswari in Mirpur were granted the status of subdivisions. After Hari Ghel, areas such as Bair Pani, Rehara, and Paniola were strengthened administratively, judicial sub-offices were established, and ACs and DSPs were appointed. He said that with the full support of Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, Prime Minister Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore upgraded Paniola and Khai Gala to subdivision status, the credit for which goes entirely to them.He remarked that when the people of Poonch make a decision, they turn the impossible into possible, recalling how Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan made history by declaring Haveli Kahuta a district despite its backwardness. He said that the first rebellion against the Maharaja took place in Pachiot, and the struggle against the Cholaha tax remains a symbol of the region’s honor.He added that the Pakistan Peoples Party is only Polotical Party in AJK.
