Islamabad: The National Assembly of Pakistan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lord’s College International, a recognized Teaching Centre of the University of London, to promote academic collaboration, parliamentary research, and structured internship opportunities for law students.
The MoU establishes a formal framework of cooperation under which students enrolled in the LLB (Bachelor of Laws) programme at Lord’s College International will be offered opportunities to undertake internships, parliamentary research assignments, and thesis-related studies at the National Assembly of Pakistan.
Under the agreement, the National Assembly Secretariat will provide six-week voluntary internship placements, including orientation, on-ground supervision, and exposure to legislative and governance processes. Interns will also be encouraged to engage in research activities, and certificates will be awarded upon successful completion of the internship by the National Assembly Secretariat.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Saeed Ahmed Maitla, Acting Secretary, National Assembly of Pakistan, and Mr. Raja Bilal Irshad, Dean, Lord’s College International.
The signing ceremony was attended by Syed Shamoon Hashmi, Special Secretary (Special Initiatives), National Assembly, along with other senior officers of the National Assembly Secretariat.
This collaboration underscores the National Assembly’s commitment to strengthening linkages between parliamentary institutions and academic bodies, promoting legal and policy research, and enhancing students’ practical understanding of legislative, constitutional, and democratic processes.
