AJK Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore Pays Tribute to K.H. Khurshid, Hails His Legacy of Integrity and Democratic Leadership

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, has paid glowing tribute to former President K. H. Khurshid on his death anniversary, describing him as a principled statesman and visionary leader who consistently championed democratic values and the rights of the Kashmiri people.
In a message issued on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that K.H. Khurshid devoted his entire political life to the cause of the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir and its accession to Pakistan. He noted that through his inspiring leadership and unwavering commitment, Khurshid played a vital role in awakening political consciousness among the Kashmiri people and encouraging them to stand up for their fundamental rights.
“K.H. Khurshid remained steadfast in defending the rights of the people and never bowed before any pressure,” the Prime Minister said, adding that his vision was of a stable and democratic Kashmir where citizens could enjoy freedom, dignity, and full democratic rights.
Highlighting his historic role, the Prime Minister noted that K.H. Khurshid served as the private secretary to Muhammad Ali Jinnah during the Pakistan Movement and later dedicated himself to strengthening democratic traditions and political awareness in Azad Kashmir.
The Prime Minister described him as an honest, humble, and devoted leader whose simplicity, integrity, and commitment to public service remain exemplary even today. “His life stands as a shining example of political steadfastness, sincerity, and dedication to the cause of the Kashmiri people,” he said.
Urging the younger generation to draw inspiration from K.H. Khurshid’s life and struggle, Rathore said that honesty, trustworthiness, and a spirit of sacrifice are the essential qualities of true leadership. He added that a genuine leader is one who dedicates his life to the service of the people, and K.H. Khurshid embodied these ideals.
Recalling his extraordinary simplicity, the Prime Minister noted that when K.H. Khurshid passed away, he left behind only a few rupees, yet his real legacy lies in his spotless character and lifelong commitment to public service. “His sacrifices, courage, and dedication to the Kashmiri cause will always be remembered,” he concluded.
