Kisan Ittehad Demands Financial Relief and Tax Waiver for Flood-Hit Farmers

Islamabad: Pakistan Kisan Ittehad Chairman Khalid Hussain Bath has demanded immediate financial relief for farmers affected by devastating floods, along with a complete waiver of taxes and dues. Speaking at a press conference at the National Press Club Islamabad, accompanied by President Mian Umair Masood, he urged the government to provide subsidies on fertilizers and seeds to help farmers cultivate the next crop.

Khalid Hussain Bath also called for independent investigations into the wheat, cotton, and sugar scandals to ensure justice for farmers. He stressed that “farmers are the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, and if they are weakened, the country’s economy can never be strengthened.”

He said floods and heavy rains have destroyed standing crops and homes across Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Thousands of acres of farmland have been washed away, leaving farmers unable to afford even two meals a day. He condemned the government for launching raids and filing FIRs against farmers instead of supporting them.

Mian Umair Masood added that the government has set wheat prices below the cost of production, which is sheer injustice to farmers. He announced that the Kisan Ittehad would not only hold protests but also approach the courts against the government’s polices.
