Rawalakot : Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, while speaking to journalists at a tea party hosted by former coordinator Sardar Tahir Sultan, emphasized that the development and democratic progress of AJK is the result of continuous efforts by political parties. He stated that the region has made significant strides in education, institutions, and overall development.

Discussing the recent All Parties Conference, he said it was meant to demonstrate political unity and formulate a joint strategy on regional issues. However, certain incidents during the event negatively impacted its positive message. Expressing his reservations about Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq’s participation and conduct at the gathering, Sardar Tanveer said such actions have harmed political harmony.

He condemned the FIR registered against Government Advisor Ahmad Saghir, calling it unjust and discouraging for party workers. He criticized the unnecessary police interference and the presence of plainclothes officers at the event, stating it undermined the actual purpose of the gathering. “This meeting should have been a symbol of public unity, but was sabotaged through mismanagement,” he remarked.

Sardar Tanveer added that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will raise this matter with its parliamentary party and senior leadership to reassess future cooperation with the current government. He reiterated that AJK has always been the base camp for Pakistan and emphasized the need to rise above political differences to support the cause of occupied Kashmir and represent it globally.

He stressed the importance of guiding the younger generation towards development, diplomacy, and political struggle.

On the occasion, former government minister Abid Hussain Abid, Advisor Ahmad Saghir, Advocate Tahir Akram, Amir Khurshid, Tahir Sultan, Afnan Nawaz Imran, Yaseen Imtiaz Sarwar, Amjad Naseem Advocate, and others also spoke. They stated that Prime Minister Anwarul Haq has lost public support and that his two-year performance has been disappointing. They said the PPP can no longer remain part of this system and will soon call a parliamentary meeting to consult party leadership.

Advisor Ahmad Saghir termed the FIR against him as fabricated and baseless, calling it a conspiracy that must be exposed. He also criticized the administration for allowing plainclothes personnel to disrupt the event.

Sardar Tanveer concluded that the real goal of the All Parties Program was to establish national unity and peace in the region, and he held the district administration responsible for the disorder. He warned that hostile forces are trying to destabilize the region but reaffirmed that the people of Kashmir stand firm with Pakistan and its armed forces. He expressed confidence that in the next general elections, the PPP will win with a strong mandate and establish a government that delivers justice to the people.
