Islamabad:The Third Trilateral Speakers’ Conference among Pakistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan commenced today at the National Assembly Secretariat, Islamabad, under the chairmanship of Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. The event marks a significant milestone in advancing parliamentary diplomacy, regional cooperation, and the shared vision of peace and prosperity among the three brotherly nations.

The opening session was attended by Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, Madame Sahiba Gafarova; Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş; and Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, along with senior parliamentary delegations from all three countries.

In his keynote address, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq highlighted that the trilateral forum reflects fraternal unity, mutual respect, and collective aspirations for a stable and prosperous region. He drew attention to pressing global and regional issues, including the human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and the devastating impacts of climate change. He lauded Pakistan’s Armed Forces for safeguarding national sovereignty and acknowledged the diplomatic support extended by friendly countries — particularly Türkiye, Azerbaijan, China, and Saudi Arabia.

Referring to the conference’s theme, “Strengthening Fraternal Ties: Parliamentary Cooperation for Regional Peace, Security, and Prosperity,” Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized the importance of institutionalized parliamentary coordination to counter terrorism, enhance climate resilience, and resolve regional conflicts through dialogue and mutual understanding.

Addressing the session, Azerbaijani Speaker Madame Sahiba Gafarova commended Pakistan’s unwavering support for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and reaffirmed her country’s consistent stance in support of Pakistan’s position on Jammu and Kashmir. She also strongly condemned Israel’s aggression in Gaza and called for global solidarity to end the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people.

Turkish Speaker Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş described the trilateral alliance as a reflection of “three states, one nation,” underscoring the historic and cultural bonds that unite the nations. He proposed formalizing trilateral cooperation through structured dialogue and joint initiatives. He further announced that Türkiye will host the next Trilateral Speakers’ Conference in Istanbul, with a special focus on the Palestinian issue, and highlighted the diplomatic impact of their joint efforts that led to 11 countries recognizing Palestine.

Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani reaffirmed the historical, religious, and cultural unity among the three nations and called for expanded collaboration in trade, technology, education, and cultural exchanges to strengthen people-to-people ties.

The conference concluded with a renewed pledge by all three Speakers to deepen inter-parliamentary cooperation and to collectively advance the shared objectives of peace, justice, and sustainable development across the region.
