ISLAMABAD:
A delegation of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Bureau Journalists Association (RIBJA) called on the newly elected leadership of the Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA) at Parliament House on Thursday to extend their felicitations and express solidarity for the collective cause of journalists’ rights.
The RIBJA delegation included President Ghulam Murtaza Malik, General Secretary Fayyaz Chaudhry, former President Sardar Shaukat Mehmood, Vice President Asad Chaudhry, and former Information Secretary and Governing Body Member Yasir Abbasi.
They congratulated PRA President M.B. Soomro, General Secretary Naveed Akbar, Finance Secretary Shakir Abbasi, Vice President Lala Nawaz, and other office-bearers, expressing confidence that the newly elected team would actively contribute to protecting journalists’ rights, strengthening press freedom, and promoting unity among media professionals.
Speaking on the occasion, PRA President M.B. Soomro highlighted that disunity among journalist bodies remains one of the biggest hurdles in addressing the challenges facing the media community. He urged all associations to put aside personal and organizational differences and work together for the greater good of the profession.
“We must prioritize transparency, merit, and accountability within our ranks rather than favoritism or personal loyalties,” he emphasized.
The RIBJA leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing coordination among journalist organizations and supporting collaborative efforts aimed at safeguarding professional integrity and the welfare of the journalist community.
