ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan reaffirmed its dedication to global peace, justice, and multilateral cooperation during the 19th Mid-Term Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), held in Kampala, Uganda, on October 15–16, 2025. The meeting, themed “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence,” brought together foreign ministers and senior officials from member states.
The Pakistani delegation, led by Special Secretary (UN) Nabeel Munir, highlighted NAM’s enduring relevance in promoting equality, sustainable development, and peaceful coexistence amid escalating global tensions.
Addressing the Plenary Session, Mr. Munir drew attention to the unresolved issues of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, urging renewed international efforts to uphold the right of self-determination for oppressed nations. He also voiced concern over the rise of Islamophobia and the increasing war rhetoric in South Asia, calling on the global community to strengthen adherence to international law and the UN Charter.
On the sidelines of the event, the Pakistani envoy held bilateral meetings with Ugandan Foreign Minister Odongo Jeje Abubakhar and several other NAM leaders to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in trade, peacebuilding, and development.
At the NAM Ministerial Committee on Palestine, Pakistan welcomed the Sharm El-Sheikh ceasefire and praised the mediation efforts of Qatar, Egypt, Türkiye, and the United States. Mr. Munir reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The conference concluded with the adoption of the Kampala Declaration, recognizing Pakistan’s constructive contribution to peace, stability, and solidarity among NAM member states.
