Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan meets supporters and local leaders during his visit to Sudhnoti, Sehnsa, and Kotli.

Azad Kahmir: In a full-day outreach initiative, senior Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan—former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) and prominent leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)—visited the districts of Sudhnoti, Sehnsa and Kotli. The tour featured a series of political meetings, participation in social events and visits to mourning families.

The trip began in Pallandri, Sudhnoti, where Sardar Khan attended the wedding of the son of former assembly candidate Sardar Raees Inqalabi and met with Minister Javed Budhanvi and ex-Minister Sardar Najeeb Naqi. From there he travelled to Sehnsa, accompanied by senior party figures including Sardar Majid Razzaq Advocate, Sardar Naeem Bari, and Pir Syed Ali Gilani. At the PPP Secretariat he surveyed local organisational strategy and later attended the wedding of Dr Mujtaba Javed Iqbal, son of Advocate Chaudhry Javed Iqbal.

In a show of community solidarity, Sardar Khan visited the family of the late Raja Naseer Khan, ex-Minister and veteran leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), offering condolences and describing him as “a man of principle, loyalty and public service.” He also visited the family of the late Chaudhry Sadiq, cousin of Minister Chaudhry Ikhlaq, to extend sympathies.

The final stop was at Bangiyal House in Sehnsa, where hosts including Chaudhry Ali Asghar Bangiyal held a reception. There, Sardar Khan addressed media on the current political climate and his party’s grassroots engagement strategy. He was joined by his political team: Sardar Iftikhar Rashid Chughtai (Political Adviser), Sardar Imtiaz Shaheen (former Special Assistant), Sardar Shabrez Sabir, Raja Qamar uz Zaman and Mashal Younis, among other party affiliates.

The visit underscored the PPP’s efforts to maintain its regional presence, reach out to voters on a personal level, and demonstrate solidarity with local communities across Azad Kashmir.
