ISLAMABAD
In a significant stride toward digital transformation, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, has launched a cashless payment system at the CDA’s One-Window Directorate — a move set to make Islamabad Pakistan’s first fully cashless and model smart city.
Chairman Randhawa personally conducted the inaugural digital transaction, symbolizing the start of a new era in e-governance. The event was attended by senior CDA officials, including Member Finance, Member Environment, DG Building Control, and representatives from commercial banks, fintech firms, and the general public.
Speaking on the occasion, Randhawa said the initiative reflects the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to bring transparency, convenience, and efficiency to citizen services through digital governance.
“Our mission is to make Islamabad a cashless, efficient, and model smart city that represents the future of urban transformation,” he stated.
The newly introduced system supports QR code-based payments through Easypaisa, JazzCash, and multiple banking channels, enabling citizens to complete transactions quickly, safely, and transparently.
Chairman Randhawa announced that the system has already been implemented in Islamabad’s weekly markets and will soon extend to shopping malls, commercial centers, and wholesale and retail markets across the capital.
“This step will not only make transactions easier but also promote a modern digital economy in the city,” he emphasized.
He also revealed that the CDA, under directives from the Prime Minister and Interior Minister, is preparing to launch the ‘Aasan Khidmat Markaz’ — a one-stop digital service hub in collaboration with the Ministry of Information Technology.
“At the Aasan Khidmat Markaz, citizens will be able to access a wide range of public services under one roof, delivered in a professional and efficient environment,” he explained.
The new system empowers citizens by allowing them to choose from multiple digital payment providers, ensuring flexibility, transparency, and greater financial inclusion.
“Our goal is for every transaction — every service and every payment — to be fully digital, secure, and convenient,” Chairman Randhawa concluded.
