LAHORE: As part of the Türkiye–Pakistan Cultural Week (October 28–31), celebrated under the patronage of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to commemorate the 102nd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, a Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed for the rehabilitation of the Javed Manzil / Allama Muhammad Iqbal Museum in Lahore.
The agreement was inked between the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Directorate General of Archaeology, Department of Tourism, Archaeology & Museums, Government of Punjab.
Originally commissioned by Pakistan’s national poet and philosopher Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Javed Manzil is the historic residence where he lived and passed away. Later converted into a museum, it stands as a symbol of Iqbal’s intellectual and spiritual legacy.
Under the newly signed agreement, TİKA will undertake the restoration and rehabilitation of the museum, with the project expected to be completed by 2027 — coinciding with the 150th birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal.
The initiative aims to preserve and promote Iqbal’s cultural and philosophical heritage, which is deeply cherished in both Türkiye and Pakistan. It will also serve as a lasting testament to the brotherly ties and shared values that unite the two nations.
