Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has paid glowing tribute to the late Sardar Khalid Ibrahim Khan on his seventh death anniversary, describing him as one of the rare and dignified figures in Kashmiri politics who embodied integrity, courage, and ideological steadfastness.
Sardar Tanveer Ilyas said that Khalid Ibrahim was not only a true representative of the Kashmir freedom movement but also a firm advocate of democracy, rule of law, and people’s empowerment in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Throughout his political journey, he remained unwavering in his principles, refusing to compromise for personal gain, power, or position.
He noted that Khalid Ibrahim’s life and struggle continue to inspire the youth, symbolizing truth, decency, and ideological commitment. Despite numerous challenges, Khalid Ibrahim upheld his convictions and lived by his values, setting a high moral benchmark for future generations.
Recalling his parliamentary legacy, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas said that in the AJK Legislative Assembly, Khalid Ibrahim was known for his fearless and principled stance, always prioritizing public interest and speaking truth to power. “For him, politics was not about privilege — it was about service and sacrifice,” he added.
He further said that Khalid Ibrahim was the true heir to his father’s legacy, the late Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, the founding father of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and pioneer of the freedom movement. “He carried forward his father’s mission with unwavering integrity, transparent governance, and tireless efforts to raise political awareness among the people,” Tanveer Ilyas remarked.
The former AJK premier emphasized that Khalid Ibrahim’s example proves that politics rooted in honesty and sincerity can transform society. “His integrity was so well known that even his political opponents respected him,” he said, adding that such leaders are born once in a century.
Concluding his message, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas prayed for the elevated ranks of the late leader’s soul, saying Khalid Ibrahim’s life would forever remain a beacon of truth, dignity, and courage in Kashmiri politics.
