ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a case against 13 more officials of the National Counter Crime Intelligence Agency (NCCIA) on charges of extorting millions of rupees from call centers operating in the capital.
According to FIA officials, the case has been filed at the Anti-Corruption Circle in Islamabad, naming several NCCIA Additional Directors — including officers posted in Rawalpindi — as well as intermediaries and a foreign national allegedly involved in the racket.
The FIR states that 15 illegal call centers operating in Sector I-11, Islamabad were coerced into paying millions of rupees in extortion to avoid harassment and raids. The accused officials allegedly continued collecting large amounts on a monthly basis from these centers.
It further reveals that one of the accused acted as a frontman for the officers, receiving payments from a woman who paid millions to secure the release of her husband and 13 foreign nationals. The main suspect has reportedly served earlier as Director NCCIA Sindh.
FIA sources said the investigation aims to uncover the full network of those involved and bring all responsible officials to justice.
