ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved a city-wide rehabilitation and upgradation plan for all sectors of Islamabad. The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa at the CDA Headquarters.
According to the briefings given in the meeting, the authority will undertake uniform construction and repair of roads across all sectors, including complete re-carpeting and patchwork wherever required. Under the rehabilitation initiative, existing footpaths will be repaired while new footpaths will also be constructed.
The plan also includes the repair of faulty streetlights and poles as well as installation of new streetlights to improve illumination in residential and commercial areas. For public guidance and safety, the project will also cover installation of signage boards, lane markings, and rubber speed breakers.
Officials further informed that upgradation of the sewerage and drainage system—along with repair of manholes and curb stones—will also be carried out across sectors.
The Chairman directed the engineering wing to launch rehabilitation and upgradation work simultaneously in Super Market, Jinnah Super, Aabpara, Karachi Company, Blue Area, and other commercial and residential sectors. He also instructed that traders and the business community be taken on board during the execution of repair works in commercial zones.
Chairman Randhawa emphasized adopting a comprehensive strategy to enhance sanitation in older sectors and ensure the highest standards of development work at reasonable cost. The meeting was briefed that surveys of all sectors and commercial centers have been completed, while the engineering wing has finalized preliminary cost estimates for rehabilitation and improvement works.
He further directed the inclusion of professional architects for beautification and modern design interventions, along with the procurement and effective utilization of advanced machinery.
Member Engineering, DG Works, and senior officers from the engineering wing attended the meeting.
Chairman CDA reiterated that the initiative aims to beautify Islamabad and ensure the provision of upgraded, citizen-friendly urban infrastructure across the capital.
