ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to intensify its crackdown on individuals travelling abroad using fake documents and the networks facilitating illegal migration.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired jointly by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain. Officials reviewed systemic loopholes in immigration and protector offices and approved reforms to make the protector-of-emigrants framework more secure and efficient.
Minister Naqvi announced the rollout of an AI-based pilot application that will instantly detect irregularities in documents and determine a person’s eligibility to travel. “There will be zero tolerance for fake visas and agent mafias,” he said.
He added that passports of deported individuals would be cancelled and steps taken to prevent their re-entry into foreign labour markets. The government will also issue a standardized international driving licence through the National Police Bureau.
Minister Salik Hussain reassured that only workers with authentic documents will be permitted to travel and pledged cooperation for upgrading immigration systems
