Rawalakot Pachiot:
A highly significant and decisive meeting of the people of South Pachiot and its adjoining wards was held to protest decades of deprivation, persistent state apathy and continuous official neglect. The gathering witnessed strong participation from political, social and public representatives, who unanimously warned the government of serious repercussions if urgent corrective measures are not taken.
The meeting was attended by former Assembly candidates Sardar Zahid Sharif and Sardar Shaukat Mahmood, former Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Asim Akhtar, former advisor Sardar Farooq, Barrister Danish Riaz, former District Council candidate Sardar Tahir Mahmood, Sardar Lal Khan, local councilor Bedeen Ward Sardar Naveed Hassan, councilor Blari Ward Wajid Hanif, central leader JKPP Lagrayat Sardar Javed Khan, along with Muhammad Bahram, Nizakat, Numberdar Ijaz Khan, Qari Asghar, Mudassar Arif, Muhammad Tufail Khan, Saleh Muhammad, Aftab Khan and Wasif Hafeez, among others.
Addressing the meeting, speakers stated in unequivocal terms that the people of South Pachiot have been fed nothing but hollow promises, announcements and file work for decades, while basic civic, administrative and human facilities remain non-existent. They termed the continued neglect of such a vast and densely populated region as unacceptable and a glaring example of administrative failure.
While welcoming the establishment of the new Paniola Sub-Division in Constituency No. 5, participants emphasized that administrative units are essential for public relief. However, they expressed deep concern that despite its strategic importance and growing population, South Pachiot continues to be deprived of basic administrative infrastructure and essential services.
The meeting also welcomed the announcement of a Tehsildar office in Datot, the upgradation of Degree College Datot, the upgradation of Girls High School Bedeen to Higher Secondary level, and approval of development projects including the Mujadabad–Thalla Road. Simultaneously, the government was urged to take immediate and concrete steps to facilitate the people of Blari, Lagrayat, Saniyar, Bari Thab, Blari Kheriyan, Mankot, Sehr Gora, Bareen, Brien, Western Pachiot and surrounding localities.
Participants strongly demanded the posting of a Sub-Judge at Bareen Pachiot on a fortnightly basis, as practiced in the past at Paniola, to provide relief to litigants. They also called for the permanent deployment of a Naib Tehsildar at Bareen, stating that forcing citizens to travel long distances for minor administrative matters amounts to sheer injustice.
The gathering severely criticized the government for what it termed “criminal negligence” regarding the Poonch Highway, which is currently being constructed by the public on a self-help basis. It was demanded that the highway be taken into immediate government control and completed through proper funding. Likewise, the remaining portion of the under-construction Bareen–Blari–Azizabad to Dar (Ghazi Millat Road) was demanded to be included in a new development scheme without further delay.
In view of the rapidly increasing population and the absence of adequate health facilities, the meeting demanded the immediate construction of the BHU Bedeen building, establishment of an IT and Technology Institute, construction of a rest house at the scenic tourist site of Bedeen, setting up of a basic agriculture center, and establishment of a permanent Patwar Khana (revenue office). These demands were declared the fundamental and constitutional rights of the people of South Pachiot.
Concluding the meeting, participants issued a stern warning that if the incumbent government fails to approve and implement these long-standing and legitimate demands without delay, the people will be left with no option but to launch organized protests, a full-scale
