Pakistan Rules Out Joining Abraham Accords: FO

Islamabad: Pakistan on Thursday categorically rejected any association between the Board of Peace and the Abraham Accords, reiterating that the country has no intention of joining the accords.
During the weekly media briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi clarified that Pakistan continues to be a safe and welcoming destination for international travelers. He noted that the recent travel advisory issued by the United States should not be interpreted as a downgrade, but rather as an update.
According to Andrabi, several earlier security-related concerns have been removed, making travel to Pakistan easier for American citizens. He added that diplomatic engagement between Islamabad and Washington remains ongoing to further address the matter.
Providing an update on bilateral discussions, the spokesperson said Pakistan is in talks with the United States regarding the removal of visa restrictions. He expressed optimism that Pakistan would soon be taken off the visa restriction list, adding that diplomatic efforts are actively underway.
Addressing Pakistan’s participation in the Board of Peace, Andrabi emphasized that the country joined the initiative in good faith, with the objective of supporting a ceasefire in Gaza, facilitating reconstruction efforts, and promoting lasting peace based on the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
He highlighted that Pakistan is not alone in the initiative, which also includes seven other Muslim countries — Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Qatar. Launched in September last year, the Board of Peace aims to support humanitarian relief and peace efforts for Gaza and the broader Palestinian cause.
The spokesperson noted that Gaza has suffered extensive destruction and a severe humanitarian crisis over the past two years, while United Nations efforts to stop Israeli aggression have yielded limited results. He clarified that the Board of Peace has been approved by the UN Security Council and functions as a complementary platform rather than a replacement for the United Nations.
Concluding his remarks, Andrabi firmly dismissed any linkage between the Board of Peace and the Abraham Accords, reiterating that Pakistan will neither join the accords nor participate in any international stabilization force.
