Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA), under the guidance of Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, has launched a comprehensive campaign across the federal capital to cover open manholes, repair footpaths, and restore damaged curbstones. The initiative aims to enhance public safety and improve urban infrastructure.
In a citywide effort, all open drains and manholes—whether managed by CDA, PTCL, WAPDA, SNGPL, or any other agency—will be fitted with standard, secure covers. Chairman Randhawa emphasized that the campaign will continue until every manhole in the capital is safely covered. “The safety of Islamabad’s citizens, especially children, remains our top priority,” he said.
CDA and district administration teams have already mobilized in the field, conducting inspections and remedial work. Citizens are encouraged to report any unsafe or open manholes and drains to the relevant authorities to support the initiative.
Simultaneously, the CDA is repairing footpaths and replacing damaged curbstones across older sectors and city centers to enhance public convenience and preserve the city’s aesthetic appeal.
Chairman Randhawa directed all teams to maintain a strong field presence to ensure efficient service delivery. He noted that these measures would not only safeguard residents but also contribute to a cleaner, well-organized, and visually appealing Islamabad.
