Islamabad: At the invitation of Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker, Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will undertake an official visit to Vienna, Austria, from 15–16 February 2026. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch. The visit coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Austria.
During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold bilateral talks with Chancellor Stocker, reviewing the full spectrum of Pakistan–Austria relations and exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation across political, economic, and multilateral domains.
The Prime Minister will also chair a meeting of the Pakistan–Austria Business Forum, organised by the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKO), and is scheduled to engage with key multilateral organisations based in Vienna.
Pakistan and Austria share warm and friendly ties founded on mutual respect, dialogue, multilateral cooperation, and adherence to international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
Notably, this marks the first visit by a Pakistani prime minister to Austria in more than three decades. The previous visit was undertaken in 1992 by then-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, underscoring the historic significance of the upcoming engagement.
