Muzaffarabad: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has described overseas Kashmiris as a priceless national asset, reaffirming the government’s commitment to deepening structured engagement with the diaspora, utilizing their expertise, and expanding their role in the region’s sustainable economic and social development.
In a special message issued in connection with the Overseas Kashmiris Convention, he highlighted the historic contribution of expatriate Kashmiris to the state’s progress, noting that the convention aims to integrate overseas communities into development planning, unlock credible investment opportunities, and channel their professional capabilities toward long-term growth and stability.
He emphasized that a coordinated institutional framework is being established to ensure secure and transparent investment avenues alongside effective mechanisms for the swift resolution of issues faced by overseas Kashmiris. The convention—organized by the AJK government with the support of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation—will showcase development prospects, investor incentives, and facilitation measures designed to strengthen diaspora confidence.
Key initiatives linked to the event include the establishment of a dedicated court for overseas Kashmiris, the launch of a prime ministerial grievance redressal web portal connected with Pakistan’s federal complaint system, and the introduction of a one-window investment facilitation mechanism to streamline procedures and encourage foreign participation.
The convention will feature panel discussions and policy dialogues bringing together overseas representatives, business leaders, bureaucrats, and civil society stakeholders to deliberate on major challenges and formulate actionable recommendations for a comprehensive diaspora engagement policy. Sector-specific investment proposals in information technology, energy and water resources, industry, tourism, and minerals will also be presented to attract international investors and accelerate economic activity.
Inviting members of the Joint Action Committee to participate constructively, the prime minister urged collective efforts toward stability, prosperity, and public welfare. He also commended government departments for coordinated, mission-driven preparations and expressed confidence that the convention in Muzaffarabad would emerge as a defining platform to strengthen cooperation, advance development, and reinforce enduring ties between overseas Kashmiris and their homeland.
