Islamabad: On the occasion of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, Chairman Senate, Yousaf Raza Gilani, called on the international community to take unified action against the growing wave of hatred, prejudice, and discrimination faced by Muslims worldwide.
Mr. Gilani highlighted that Islamophobia undermines the core principles of equality, human dignity, and religious freedom enshrined in international law and the United Nations Charter. He expressed concern over hate speech, discrimination, and attacks on Muslim individuals and places of worship, stressing that such acts threaten peaceful coexistence and social harmony.
Chairman Senate emphasized that Islam is a faith rooted in peace, compassion, and justice, and any attempt to link it to extremism is a deliberate distortion of its teachings. He stressed the need to promote tolerance, interfaith understanding, and mutual respect as foundations of global stability.
He urged governments, parliaments, international organizations, and civil society to strengthen measures combating religious intolerance and protecting the rights of all communities. Mr. Gilani reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to interfaith harmony, minority rights, and respect for all religions.
Concluding his message, Chairman Senate underlined that combating Islamophobia is a shared global responsibility and called for collective efforts to foster inclusivity, understanding, and respect for diversity, building a more peaceful and just world.
