Pakistan joins Islamic countries urging Iran to halt attacks on Gulf states

Pakistan, along with 11 other Muslim-majority countries, has called on Iran to immediately halt its attacks on Gulf nations and their allies, following a ministerial meeting in Riyadh aimed at easing rising tensions in the Middle East.

The appeal comes amid escalating conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran, which has heightened instability across the region. Iranian state media reported that Tehran launched missile strikes on Tel Aviv, including the use of cluster munitions, describing the move as retaliation for the killing of its security chief, Ali Larijani.

In a joint statement released after the meeting, the participating countries condemned Iran’s actions, accusing it of targeting civilian areas and critical infrastructure such as oil facilities, airports, desalination plants, residential buildings, and diplomatic sites using missiles and drones.

They described the attacks as unjustifiable under any circumstances and reaffirmed the right of nations to defend themselves under international law, specifically Article 51 of the UN Charter.

The ministers urged Iran to stop its military actions immediately and stressed the importance of respecting international law, sovereignty, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other states. They added that improving relations with Iran would depend on its commitment to these principles and its willingness to pursue diplomatic solutions to the crisis.
