Islamabad: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong has underscored that the successful conclusion of China’s “Two Sessions” and the unveiling of the country’s 15th Five-Year Plan reflect confidence, continuity, and sustained economic momentum—sending a strong and reassuring signal to the global community.
Highlighting the depth of China-Pakistan ties, the ambassador noted that bilateral cooperation continues to expand across key social and development sectors. Over the past two years, China has distributed 70,000 health kits to children in Balochistan, covering 23 districts and benefiting 766 schools. He further revealed that Chinese medical teams successfully conducted life-saving surgeries on children suffering from congenital heart disease.
In Gwadar, the China-assisted China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital has emerged as a vital healthcare hub, treating over 48,000 patients in the first two months of 2026 alone, with more than 1,000 patients receiving free medical services daily. This year, China plans to deliver over 80,000 medical equipment units to 100 maternal and child health facilities across Pakistan, expected to benefit nearly six million people.
Ambassador Jiang emphasized that China remains a central engine of global economic growth, contributing approximately 30 percent to the world economy. With GDP surpassing $20 trillion in 2025 and a growth target of 4.5 to 5 percent for 2026, China continues to act as a stabilizing force amid global uncertainties.
He highlighted Beijing’s shift toward innovation-driven development, noting that research and development spending exceeded $522 billion in 2025 and is projected to grow by more than 7 percent annually under the new plan. Key focus areas include artificial intelligence, digital industries, and smart manufacturing.
China’s rapid advancement in emerging sectors was also underscored, particularly in 5G technology and new energy vehicles. With over 3.5 million 5G base stations and more than 12 million new energy vehicles produced and sold in 2025, China has consolidated its global leadership. The ambassador added that Chinese companies are increasingly exploring opportunities in Pakistan, especially in digital infrastructure and advanced technologies.
On trade, he noted that China remains the world’s largest trading nation, with total trade volume reaching $6.24 trillion in 2025. Initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative continue to drive global connectivity, infrastructure development, and economic integration.
Ambassador Jiang also reaffirmed China’s commitment to green development, stating that renewable energy capacity has surpassed 1.6 billion kilowatts—accounting for more than half of total installed power—positioning China at the forefront of global climate action.
He further elaborated on China’s global initiatives, including the Global Security Initiative (GSI), which has garnered support from over 130 countries, promoting dialogue, partnership, and cooperative security frameworks. Similarly, the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI) and Global Governance Initiative (GGI) aim to enhance cultural exchange, inclusive governance, and equitable international representation, particularly for the Global South.
Reaffirming the enduring partnership between Islamabad and Beijing, Ambassador Jiang noted that 2026 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. He emphasized that the alignment of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan with Pakistan’s “Uraan Pakistan” initiative presents a historic opportunity to deepen strategic cooperation.
