BEIJING: China has expressed strong support for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at easing rising tensions in the Middle East, describing Islamabad’s mediation role as being in the shared interest of regional and global stability.
The statement was made by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar in Beijing, where both sides discussed evolving regional conflicts and broader international developments.
Wang Yi welcomed Pakistan’s recent diplomatic engagements, including its participation in a quadrilateral foreign ministers’ meeting held in Islamabad. He said China fully supports Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue, reducing tensions, and promoting the early resumption of peace negotiations.
He further stated that China is prepared to work closely with Pakistan to help bring an end to hostilities, create conditions for peace, and support constructive diplomatic channels for dialogue.
Marking the 75th anniversary of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations, Wang urged both countries to deepen strategic cooperation and fully implement the consensus reached by their leadership.
For his part, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its all-weather strategic partnership with China and emphasised that dialogue remains the only viable path toward lasting peace. He also highlighted the global economic impact of ongoing conflicts, particularly on energy markets and developing economies.
Both sides jointly proposed a five-point initiative aimed at promoting peace, stability, and diplomatic engagement in the Middle East and Gulf region.
