‎Islamabad: Acting President of the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, has appreciated Pakistan’s role in brokering a ceasefire between the United States and Iran.‎
‎Terming it a great diplomatic achievement for Pakistan, Saghar said that the tireless efforts made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir helped avert a catastrophic war that could have unleashed destruction across the Middle East and Gulf states.
‎“Despite facing a myriad of challenges, Pakistan achieved what many believed was unachievable,” he said, adding that the country’s historic role in stopping war in the region has not only saved millions of lives but also prevented regional collapse.‎
‎He hoped that the 14-day truce would lead to a permanent settlement of all disputes between the warring parties.
‎‎The DFP leader also expressed optimism that peace efforts in the Middle East would eventually contribute to resolving other global disputes, including the long-standing Kashmir issue, which he said was the main cause and consequence of continued unrest and instability in South Asia.
