Bhimber: Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Iftikhar Gilani has said that improving governance, providing relief to the ordinary citizens, and ensuring uniform development across all areas of the state were his government’s top priorities. Speaking to media representatives who called on him during his visit to Bhimber today, the PM reaffirmed that the fruits of good governance would be taken forward to the grassroots level, making sure that it’s benefits reach the people. The Prime Minister said that under a comprehensive strategy, steps would be taken to ensure a uniform and balanced development of all areas of Azad Kashmir. The government, he said, has prepared a clear roadmap to address public issues, improve the performance of institutions, and ensure transparent and effective governance. Describing political instability as one of the reasons behind the lack of development and lingering public problems, the prime minister said that four prime ministers changed in the last five years. “As a result the continuity of the government was affected, and the required attention could not be given to resolving public issues,” he remarked. He told the media delegation that his government’s main focus was on public service, institutional improvement, and effective advancement of the development process. Regarding the problems faced by the journalist community, he assured that concrete steps would be taken to address legitimate concerns of the journalists and for the welfare of the journalist community. He praised the media for its significant role in identifying and highlighting public issues and conveying the voice of the public to the government. Speaker Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, government ministers Colonel (retired) Waqar Ahmed Noor, Saqib Majeed, Sardar Umair Naeem, and others were also present on the occasion. The media delegation, led by President Kashmir Press Club Chaudhry Jamil Shafi, apprised the PM of the problems faced by the journalist community.
