Islamabad Today(Saeed Ch Report), Pakistan is actively participating in the second Ministerial Meeting of the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform, which commenced in Tehran, focusing on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to advance science, technology, and higher education across the Islamic world.

Themed “AI-Driven Scientific and Technological Innovation: Strategy for Excellence and a Bright Future for the Islamic World,” the three-day conference aims to tackle shared developmental and scientific challenges through enhanced multilateral cooperation.

According to a press release from COMSTECH, a high-level delegation from Pakistan is attending the conference under the leadership of Coordinator General Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, who has also played a pivotal role in organizing the event. COMSTECH currently hosts the secretariat of the OIC-15 platform and serves as a key body promoting science and technology cooperation among OIC member states.

The conference is expected to adopt the first-ever multilateral agreement on Artificial Intelligence among Muslim countries, marking a milestone in joint policymaking on emerging technologies.

Ahead of the ministerial segment, a Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) was co-chaired by Prof. Dr. Iqbal Choudhary and Iran’s Deputy Minister for Science, Prof. Farhad Yazdandoust. Delegates from Pakistan, Brunei, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Iran, and the OIC Secretariat were in attendance.

The conference will also feature bilateral meetings, a special exhibition showcasing scientific innovations from the Islamic world, and a review of outcomes from the previous ministerial session held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Discussions will also determine the date and venue for the next session.

The OIC-15 Dialogue Platform was initiated by Kazakhstan in 2016 and later endorsed by the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers. The platform unites leading Muslim countries including Iran, Pakistan, Türkiye, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Kazakhstan to form joint strategies on science, climate change, energy, innovation, and sustainable development.
