The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has declared feasible a proposal to establish five new registration centres in Balochistan’s Kech and Panjgur districts and confirmed their inclusion in its annual plan for the fiscal year 2026–27.
The development follows a proposal submitted by Wajah Phulein Baloch, a central leader of the National Party, Member of the National Assembly (MNA) and member of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, seeking to improve access to registration services for residents of the two districts.
In a formal letter addressed to Wajah Phulein Baloch, NADRA Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar confirmed that the proposed centres had been declared feasible and incorporated into the authority’s annual plan for FY 2026–27.
The five proposed locations include Absar, Shahi Tump and Kalag in Kech district, and Washbod and Issai in Panjgur district.
According to the letter, the establishment and operationalisation of the centres will be contingent upon the timely availability of suitable buildings at the designated locations. The NADRA chairman reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to improving public access to registration facilities and said efforts would be made to establish and operationalise the centres at the earliest possible time.
The proposed facilities are expected to provide considerable convenience to residents of the respective localities by bringing Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) registration and other NADRA services closer to their homes. Their establishment would help reduce the need for residents to travel long distances to access essential identity registration facilities.
The initiative is particularly significant for people living in remote areas, where geographical distances can make access to public services difficult and costly.
Meanwhile, Wajah Phulein Baloch handed over a copy of the NADRA chairman’s letter to Abdul Malik Saleh, Chairman of the Panjgur District Council, who thanked him for his efforts to secure the proposed registration facilities for the district.
The inclusion of the five centres in NADRA’s FY 2026–27 annual plan marks an important step towards improving access to identity registration services in Kech and Panjgur, although their actual establishment will depend on the availability of suitable buildings and the completion of the necessary arrangements.
