Islamabad: Hundreds of young Pakistanis have fallen victim to a massive employment scam after being promised jobs and business opportunities abroad. The fraudulent scheme, operated under the name Jax Consulting, left dreams shattered and pockets emptied, as offices shut down and the masterminds vanished without a trace.
According to initial reports Jax Consulting which carried a religious tone to win trust targeted youth across several districts including in Lahore, Faisalabad, and Gujrat. The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Faisal Iqbal, reportedly used his religious appearance and persuasive rhetoric to lure people into believing they would soon be working abroad.
Victims say they were charged hefty sums sometimes hundreds of thousands of rupees each for visas, flight tickets, and job placements. In return, they received false promises, delays, and ultimately silence. They took our passports and documents, made us wait for weeks and months but no job, no call, no visa ever came, said one heartbroken victim. We invested our life savings to build a better future for our children everything is gone.”
The company’s offices are now locked, and all main suspects including Faisal Iqbal are reportedly missing.
Police sources confirm that dozens of FIRs (First Information Reports) have been registered across Punjab. The FIA (Federal Investigation Agency) and local police have launched a joint investigation. Officials say several victims’ statements have already been recorded, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the culprits.
The Jax Consulting scandal has raised serious questions about oversight and regulatory gaps in Pakistan’s job consultancy sector. Experts and civil society are calling for stricter action against such fraudulent networks to protect innocent citizens from exploitation.
