Islamabad: Pakistan has announced that crucial talks between Islamabad and the Afghan Taliban will take place tomorrow, with a key focus on cross-border terrorism and regional stability.
During his weekly media briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan expects the Afghan authorities to take concrete measures to address its security concerns and honor the commitments made to the international community.
He said that Türkiye is hosting the talks, while Pakistan continues to closely monitor the situation in Afghanistan under the Doha Agreement framework. Andrabi urged the Taliban to implement the pledges made in Doha to ensure sustainable peace in the region.
The spokesperson also strongly condemned Israel’s attempts to annex parts of the occupied West Bank, reaffirming Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause. He noted that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has issued its fourth ruling against Israel since January 2024, directing it not to obstruct humanitarian operations.
He further said that the OIC and several Muslim countries have released a joint declaration condemning Israel’s new illegal legislation aimed at annexing occupied Palestinian territories.
Tahir Andrabi added that the Foreign Minister of Poland recently concluded a two-day official visit to Pakistan, during which both countries agreed to strengthen cooperation in multiple fields and signed several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
He also informed that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held three important diplomatic engagements this week — including a phone call with the UAE Foreign Minister and separate contacts with the Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia and Morocco.
The spokesperson reiterated that Pakistan supports the establishment of a verifiable and effective mechanism to combat terrorism, emphasizing that collective regional action is vital for lasting peace and stability in the region .
