Islamabad,The Capital Development Authority (CDA) held the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 at Shakarparian on Wednesday, aiming to make Islamabad greener, more beautiful, and environmentally sustainable.
Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Health Affairs, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Barth, participated as the chief guest and planted a pine tree. CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa and MD OGDCL Ahmed Hayat Lak also took part in the plantation drive. The event was attended by senior environment officers, students, teachers, and civil society representatives.
Dr. Barth praised the active participation of students and civil society and lauded OGDCL for planting 20,000 trees under its CSR initiative. He highlighted the removal of pollen-causing trees, noting a significant reduction in pollen count and the plan to plant 30,000 large-sized trees in their place. He added that QR codes and a dedicated application will enable monitoring and care of the newly planted trees.
CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa emphasized collective responsibility in enhancing Islamabad’s green cover. “Planting even a single tree in the name of our family can profoundly impact the environment,” he said. He highlighted the use of technology, including QR codes, to track the species, age, and growth of the trees and encouraged institutions to participate in CSR-based plantation drives.
MD OGDCL Ahmed Hayat Lak reaffirmed OGDCL’s commitment to supporting CDA in maintaining Islamabad’s beauty and promoting environmental protection.
Thousands of pine trees were planted at Shakarparian, contributing to a greener and more vibrant capital city.
