Rawalpindi: In a significant step toward resolving traffic challenges during the holy month of Ramadan, a delegation of traders met with Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam to discuss rising congestion and encroachment issues across key city routes.
The delegation included Chaudhry Azhar Mahmood, Central Chairman; Chaudhry Nasir Numberdar, Vice Chairman of Anjuman Tajran Tench Bhatta; and Raja Pervez Satti, President of Anjuman Tajran Unit No. 4. During the meeting, traders highlighted severe traffic pressure—both day and night—on Chungi No. 22 to the last bus stop, Dhamial Road, Mughalabad Road, Ali Road, and Abid Majeed Road. They noted that roadside vendors and illegal encroachments were creating major difficulties for commuters and demanded immediate, effective relief measures for citizens during Ramadan.
The CTO assured the delegation that, despite staff shortages, special traffic personnel would be deployed at the identified locations throughout Ramadan. He also directed DSP Traffic Cantt Circle Babar Shehzad, Inspector Manzar Shah, and Inspector Naveed to ensure organized and efficient traffic management so citizens can perform religious and daily activities without disruption.
Traders welcomed the administration’s prompt and positive response, expressing confidence that the coordinated measures would significantly improve traffic flow and provide much-needed relief to both the business community and the general public.
The meeting reflected strong cooperation between the district administration and traders, marking a constructive step toward public facilitation during Ramadan.
