BEIRUT: At least eight people were killed in Israeli airstrikes targeting several locations in southern Lebanon at dawn and Tuesday morning, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.
The fatalities included three people in a strike on the village of Tayr Debba, one in the Zebdine area, and another in Deir al-Zahrani. In a separate strike near Tyre, one wounded woman later died, raising the toll from an earlier attack to three.
In response, Hezbollah said it carried out rocket attacks targeting Israeli positions, settlements, and military personnel. Israel has not yet issued a statement on the latest claims.
Lebanon’s General Security Directorate rejected Israeli allegations that the Masnaa border crossing is being used for weapons smuggling, stating that it is a legal entry point operating under strict inspection procedures.
Cross-border hostilities have continued along the Lebanon–Israel frontier since March 2, when Hezbollah resumed rocket fire following a ceasefire that had taken effect on November 27, 2024.
