ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has urged all parties to strictly uphold the ceasefire understanding following the conclusion of high-level Iran–United States negotiations held in Islamabad, reaffirming its continued commitment to facilitating dialogue and diplomatic engagement between the two sides.
Addressing a media briefing, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan, along with Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, facilitated multiple rounds of “intense yet constructive” negotiations between the Iranian and U.S. delegations over a 24-hour period.
He said the talks reflected a serious attempt by both sides to engage on complex issues and expressed gratitude to Iran and the United States for responding positively to the initiative of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and for acknowledging Pakistan’s mediatory role.
Dar emphasized that maintaining the ceasefire is essential for regional stability, warning that any breakdown in understanding could undermine the progress achieved during the Islamabad discussions.
He further stated that Pakistan would continue to play a facilitative role in encouraging communication and diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Washington in the coming days.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed hope that the constructive spirit demonstrated in Islamabad would contribute to sustained dialogue and broader efforts toward peace and stability in the region.
