Rawalakot: A dignified condolence reference held in Khairiyan, Pachhiot (Poonch Constituency-5) paid heartfelt tribute to the late Sardar Farooq Tabassum, a distinguished political and social figure of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, as leaders across the political spectrum pledged to keep his vision and mission alive.
Speakers unanimously described the late leader as an invaluable asset to the region, whose contributions in political, social, and educational fields will be remembered for years to come. They remarked that the “torch lit by Sardar Farooq Tabassum will continue to illuminate the path forward,” while acknowledging that the vacuum created by his passing would be difficult to fill.
Highlighting his personality and services, speakers termed him a self-made, dignified, and visionary leader who combined intellectual depth with a refined public demeanor. They noted that his commitment to public welfare and constructive politics set a lasting example for future generations.
The speakers underscored the critical role of grassroots political workers, stating that such individuals form the backbone of any society by striving—often without recognition—for the provision of basic rights and civic facilities. They expressed concern that in the current political climate, material influence is increasingly overshadowing genuine public service, thereby undermining the importance of dedicated workers. In this context, they called for unity, mutual respect, and a collective strategy among political activists, irrespective of party affiliations, to safeguard their relevance and role.
Prominent figures who addressed the gathering included former Chairman Board of Investment and Central Deputy Secretary General PTI Azad Kashmir Sardar Amjad Jaleel; PPP Azad Kashmir Divisional President Sardar Tahir Akram Advocate; senior journalist and former assembly candidate Sardar Shaukat Mehmood; President Sudhan Educational Conference Sardar Shehzab Khan; senior political leader Sardar Parvez Yaqoob; PTI Divisional Chief Organizer Sardar Ishtiaq Mushtaq; former NSF President Sardar Samad Shakeel; PPP District Additional General Secretary Sardar Tahir Mehmood; former JKPP General Secretary Sheikh Javed Iftikhar; senior all-parties leader and former Chairman Sardar Azad Khan; Member Local Council and religious scholar Maulana Naeem Akhtar; Sardar Ameen Shahid of the National Awami Party; PTI leaders Sardar Ateeq Salabat, Sardar Jameel, Sardar Nasrullah Khan, and Ubaid Nisar; as well as PPP leaders Sardar Asghar Qayyum and Abrar Ahmed Haqqani, among others.
Concluding the ceremony, Sardar Arshad Mehmood, President of PML-N Spain and younger brother of the deceased, along with his son Qamar Farooq, expressed gratitude to all attendees. They reaffirmed their resolve to carry forward the unfinished mission of Sardar Farooq Tabassum through continued consultation with his colleagues and by maintaining an active role in public service.
The reference concluded with Fateha led by Maulana Naeem Akhtar, praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
