ISLAMABAD
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar participated in the first meeting of the expanded R4 diplomatic format in Istanbul on Friday, bringing together foreign ministers from Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom to discuss regional developments and efforts to promote peace and stability.
The meeting provided an important platform for an exchange of views on the evolving situation in the Gulf region, its wider social and economic implications, and the urgent need for sustained diplomatic engagement to address pressing challenges to regional peace, security and stability.
During the discussions, Dar briefed his counterparts on Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic and mediation efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions, preventing a resumption of hostilities and creating conditions conducive to lasting peace.
He highlighted Pakistan’s continued engagement with relevant parties and its commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as essential instruments for resolving differences peacefully and averting further escalation.
The participating foreign ministers agreed to maintain engagement through this expanded diplomatic format, underscoring their shared interest in continued consultations on regional developments and coordinated efforts to promote peace, security and stability.
The meeting marked a further step towards strengthening diplomatic coordination between the R4 countries — Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Pakistan — and their European counterparts at a time when regional challenges call for sustained dialogue and constructive international engagement.
