ISLAMABAD
The Rawalpindi Islamabad Bureaus Journalists Association (RIBJA) has highly appreciated Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar for visiting senior journalist Aslam Khokhar at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), inquiring about his health and announcing government support for his treatment.
The minister’s visit reflects a commendable gesture of solidarity with the journalist community. He also announced government assistance for Khokhar’s medical treatment and confirmed that the notification regarding his appointment at Pakistan Television (PTV) had been issued.
In a statement, RIBJA welcomed the minister’s personal attention, humanitarian gesture and timely intervention, describing his initiative as a positive and encouraging step towards recognising the services, dignity and welfare of senior journalists.
RIBJA Chairman Sardar Shaukat Mehmood Khan, while expressing his appreciation for Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, particularly commended his humanitarian approach, personal involvement and practical commitment to the welfare of the journalist community.
He said that the minister’s personal visit to PIMS to inquire about Aslam Khokhar’s health, announcement of government assistance for his medical treatment and issuance of the PTV appointment notification were highly commendable steps that deserved recognition and appreciation.
Sardar Shaukat Mehmood Khan expressed his sincere gratitude to the minister, saying that such positive initiatives demonstrate the government’s recognition of journalists’ contributions and provide much-needed encouragement to media professionals, particularly senior journalists who have devoted their lives to serving the profession and highlighting public-interest issues.
He observed that journalists deserve respect, protection, job security and institutional support, particularly during illness and other difficult circumstances. He also appreciated the minister’s efforts to address the concerns of the journalist community and urged that such welfare-oriented initiatives continue.
The RIBJA Chairman further drew attention to the serious issue of non-payment of salaries and outstanding dues to journalists and media workers by certain media organisations, despite receiving government advertisements and payments. He termed this practice unacceptable and urged the government to ensure effective monitoring and accountability so that media workers receive their salaries and legitimate benefits on time.
He emphasised that the welfare of journalists must remain a priority and that government support should translate into practical measures to protect their professional rights, economic security and dignity.
RIBJA reaffirmed its commitment to advocating the professional rights, welfare, dignity and financial security of journalists and media workers. act as a world best news Editor 8 word ki headline aur 12 word ki Headline aur phir sub Headline
