Special prayers were offered for the elevation of the late judge’s ranks and his admission to Jannat-ul-Firdous.
Paying tribute to Justice Yunus Surkhvi’s life, judicial services and personality, Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin said that certain individuals become recognised figures in their communities through their hard work, character, principled conduct and outstanding contributions. Such distinction, he said, is not achieved merely through holding a position or office, but through years of dedication, persistent struggle, commitment to knowledge and excellence in one’s chosen field.
He said that Justice Muhammad Yunus Surkhvi was among those distinguished personalities who earned a prominent place in society through their abilities, hard work and dedication.

Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin noted that Justice Surkhvi had been an active and dynamic personality since his student days and had played an active role in student politics. He later pursued legal education and, through his competence, diligence and professional commitment, rose through the judicial ranks to become Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the highest judicial office in the region.
He observed that Justice Surkhvi’s personality extended beyond his standing as an eminent jurist and senior judge. He was also a learned individual with a broad intellectual outlook and a deep interest in literature and scholarship.
According to Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, the late judge’s life demonstrated how perseverance, hard work and a commitment to knowledge could help an individual attain distinction and a respected position in society.
He emphasised that remembering Justice Surkhvi’s life and achievements was important for younger generations, as his example could inspire young people to pursue education, uphold principles, work diligently and contribute positively to society through dedication to their respective professions.
He added that the late judge’s legacy remained a valuable source of remembrance for his family, relatives, the legal fraternity and all those who knew him personally and appreciated his intellectual and professional contributions.
On the occasion, prayers were offered for the eternal peace of the departed soul. May Almighty Allah accept his good deeds, elevate his ranks, grant him a place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and give his bereaved family the strength and patience to bear this loss. Ameen.
